Congenital cystic dilatations in the biliary system are rare condition. The most cases are involved in common ducte esp. inic than´.intrahepatic portion, and occur more frequently in female than male.
The symptoms and signs are variable,"´ but upper abdominal pain, jaundice and mass in the right upper quadrant are the most prominent feature.
The treatment in most cysts is internal drainage procedure, ie choledochocysto-duodenostomy or Roux,en-Y choledochocystojejunostomy.
This report is presented as an example of a choledochal cyst in a 17 months year old male who has been treated surgically at Seoul South City Hospital.
The etiology, clinical pictures and treatment are reviewed.
